Definite Article - The


'The' is a definite article. It is used when we talk about a particular person or thing.

For eg Mary has a dog. The dog's name is Roger. In the above sentence,'The' is used because it refers to a particular dog - Roger.

'The' is also used when we refer to a thing which is one of its kind.

For eg The sun. There is only one sun.
