The above sentence has two independent statements having equal ranks - Miss Kitty can dance. Piggy can sing.
They are joined by the conjunction 'and'.
Conjunctions which join two independent statements having equal ranks and are called Co-ordinating Conjunctions. Some co-ordinating conjunctions include but, also, and, either and or.
