Punctuation - Commas, Inverted Commas and Semicolon

We put commas , when we write names in the list.
A comma represents the shortest pause.

For eg France, Italy, Belgium and England are in Europe.

Remember:- A comma is never put before or after 'and'. We use inverted commas "" when we say the exact words of a speaker. For eg. Piggy said, "Can I have it?"

Piggy standing near Miss Kitty

Remember:- After opening the inverted commas, the words begin with a capital. In the sentence, "Can I have it?", 'C' is written in capital.

A semicolon ; is used to show a pause which is more important than a comma. It is used to separate a series of loosely related clauses.

For eg. He was a great man; he was honest and bold too.
