Active Voice and Passive Voice

Note the sentences given below.
subject verb object
Teddy broke the vase.
subject verb object
The Vase was broken by Teddy.

Both the above sentences have the same meaning. However, there is an important difference.
In the first sentence, it is the subject (teddy), who is doing the action, 'broke'.
When the subject is the doer of the action, the verb is in the Active Voice.

In the second sentence, the subject (vase) is the receiver of the action 'broken'.
When the subject is the receiver of the action, the verb is in the Passive Voice.
